Role Overview
Exa is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join its go-to-market team in Singapore. This full-time, in-person position is designed for technical professionals with at least five years of experience who want to drive the technical win for an innovative AI search platform.
Key Responsibilities
Own the technical aspects of the sales cycle in partnership with Account Executives, covering discovery, solution design, custom demos, and proofs of concept.
Drive account expansion by identifying new use cases within existing customer accounts and guiding them into formal evaluations.
Develop tailored working demos and prototypes using the Exa API for use cases like agents, research, and enrichment.
Act as a trusted technical advisor by addressing complex technical questions, managing evaluations, and communicating product capabilities to CTOs and engineers.
Channel customer feedback and recurring patterns from the field directly back to the product and engineering teams.
Support early regional customers through onboarding and initial implementation as a founding regional hire.
Represent Exa at industry conferences, technical workshops, and meetups while creating reusable integration patterns and playbooks.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions engineering, solutions architecture, developer relations, or technical consulting.
Strong programming proficiency in modern development and APIs using languages like Python or TypeScript, with the ability to debug and build live demos.
Excellent presentation and communication skills to effectively engage diverse audiences ranging from developers to executive leadership.
High comfort level with ambiguity, early-stage company intensity, and managing multiple concurrent evaluations.
Familiarity with the modern AI stack, including large language models, RAG, and AI agents.
Physical presence in Singapore with a readiness to travel for client meetings and engagements.
Nice to Have
Previous experience owning technical evaluations at an API-first or developer-platform company.
Background leading engineering teams or desire to transition into a hands-on customer-facing role.
Personal or professional projects built using LLMs and a genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence.
History of managing enterprise evaluations, security questionnaires, and RFPs from start to finish.
Fluency in additional regional languages spoken across APJ markets.
