Engineering Manager (Enterprise)
About this role
Leading technical direction and guiding architecture decisions across the enterprise platform forms the daily focus for this engineering manager. Teams work on the enterprise control plane, enterprise data plane, or connector marketplace and activation, building foundational systems that allow large organizations to deploy Perplexity securely and at scale. Leaders combine technical judgment, product intuition, and people management to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions while collaborating closely with co-founders, product, design, sales, and customer success.
Perplexity seeks experienced engineering leaders with deep expertise across the enterprise domain to support rapid organizational scaling. What you will do
- Set technical direction and guide architecture decisions across the enterprise platform.
- Shape product roadmaps alongside product and design teams using strong technical judgment.
- Drive reliability, testing, code quality, and safe incident response across platform changes.
- Partner with sales and customer success during strategic enterprise customer conversations.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, mentorship, and pipeline development for a growing team.
- Collaborate directly with company co-founders to execute enterprise engineering priorities.
What you need
- Bring at least 8 years of total engineering experience, including a minimum of 4 years in an engineering management role.
- Demonstrate strong technical judgment and background in building enterprise platforms or products.
- Possess domain expertise in the enterprise control plane, enterprise data plane, or connector marketplace and activation.
- Deliver effectively in fast-moving environments while balancing customer requirements and long-term maintainability.
- Show proven experience building and managing high-performing engineering teams through mentorship and recruiting.
- Communicate tradeoffs clearly and translate enterprise customer needs into defined technical priorities.
