Role Overview

OpusClip is seeking a full-time Data Scientist to join the team in Burnaby. This position suits an analytical professional with a background in product analytics or data science who enjoys turning complex data into clear business choices.

Key Responsibilities

Establish transparent definitions, assumptions, sources, and owners for critical metrics across feature adoption, weekly active usage, credit consumption, and lifetime value.
Validate reporting tables and dashboards against original source data to detect and investigate quality issues.
Develop monitoring systems for duplicate events, unexpected volume spikes, null values, stale data, and reporting discrepancies.
Conduct post-launch evaluations for major product features, analyzing user behavior, funnels, activation, retention, and segmentation.
Partner with Finance to evaluate subscriber retention, monetization, and customer lifetime value across various payment platforms.
Collaborate with AI teams to design measurements, curate data, evaluate model quality, and monitor post-launch business impact.

Requirements

Typically 3 or more years of professional experience in data science, product analytics, decision science, or a closely related discipline.
Advanced SQL capabilities, including window functions, complex joins, cohort analysis, and query debugging.
Strong Python proficiency geared toward automation, validation, statistical work, and analysis.
Demonstrated background in examining product usage, user segmentation, feature adoption, funnels, and retention.
Experience establishing and governing metrics rather than solely relying on pre-existing definitions.
Familiarity utilizing product analytics platforms such as Mixpanel alongside dashboard tools like Superset, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
Working knowledge regarding experimentation, statistical inference, and clear communication abilities with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Familiarity working with BigQuery or alternative cloud data warehouses.
Background within subscription, product-led SaaS, consumer software, creator-economy, or AI product environments.
Experience analyzing payment data from Stripe, Apple, Google Play, or PIX.
Exposure to automated data-quality anomaly detection or orchestration tools such as Airflow and dbt.
Experience partnering alongside machine learning teams for online experiments and model evaluation.
