OpusClip is hiring a Data Science Lead in Mountain View to build and direct an AI-native data function. This hands-on leadership opportunity suits an experienced data professional looking to guide analytical strategy and drive product growth.

Role Overview

OpusClip seeks a staff-level, product-oriented Data Science leader to shape an effective data function. The professional will set priorities for a small Data team, personally manage complex analytical problems, and build systems that enable better decision-making across the company.

Key Responsibilities

Set priorities for a small Data team and focus capacity on high-impact problems.
Analyze activation, retention, segmentation, monetization, and lifetime value.
Establish trusted definitions and validation for critical product and business metrics.
Support data curation, evaluation design, and experimentation for AI-powered product experiences.
Use AI to automate recurring analytical work and build self-service tools for business teams.

Requirements

Significant experience in data science, product analytics, decision science, or a related field.
Demonstrated Staff, Principal, Lead, or equivalent scope.
Strong product and business judgment with proficiency in SQL and Python.
Deep experience with product metrics, retention, segmentation, monetization, or experimentation.
Strong understanding of statistics, A/B testing, and causal reasoning.

Nice to Have

Growth analytics, incrementality, LTV, attribution, or causal inference experience.
Experience working with AI/ML teams on evaluation or data curation.
Experience building AI-assisted or agentic analytics systems.
Data engineering experience with pipelines, transformations, backfills, or automated validation.
Experience building user segmentation or behavioral profiling systems.
Experience in SaaS, consumer software, creator products, subscription businesses, or AI products.
Familiarity with BigQuery, Mixpanel, Statsig, Superset, Prefect, Airflow, dbt, or similar tools.
