Coram AI is seeking a Controller to join its finance team in Sunnyvale for an onsite, full-time position. This vital leadership role suits an experienced technical accountant ready to own the entire accounting function and help scale a high-growth video security technology company.

Role Overview

The Controller acts as the second finance leader, partnering directly alongside the Head of Finance. Initially functioning as a player-coach role, the professional manages the close directly alongside one accountant before scaling the department over the coming months. Responsibilities include shaping an innovative, AI-first accounting division that utilizes modern automation tools and managing multi-entity books as the organization expands.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of financial books across all corporate entities including the US, UK, and India, alongside month-end closes and complex consolidations.
Oversee technical accounting practices, revenue streams, COGS, inventory management, and internal controls.
Direct and finalize external audits while managing tax, statutory filings, and specialized financial projects.
Recruit, build, and lead a growing internal accounting team.

Requirements

Possess at least 7 years of progressive accounting background, or serve as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller prepared for full controllership.
Demonstrate direct experience independently overseeing month-end closes and executing revenue recognition under ASC 606 standards.
Bring professional hardware accounting background covering physical product shipping, inventory, COGS, and hardware bundling.
Exhibit robust technical accounting expertise in US GAAP, consolidations, leases under ASC 842, stock-based compensation under ASC 718, and capitalized software.
Bring prior internal or external audit exposure and multi-entity or international accounting familiarity.
Maintain resilience within fast-paced, demanding startup environments combined with outstanding communication skills.
Commit to working onsite in Sunnyvale.

Nice to Have

Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
Have previous exposure to selecting and implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Prior background in building and managing accounting teams within high-growth startup environments.
Bring an AI-forward mindset with hands-on experience using automation tools within financial operations.
