About this role

Lambda is seeking an experienced professional for the Commodity Sourcing Manager – AI Infrastructure role based in San Jose. This full-time position suits a versatile sourcing expert ready to shape supply chain strategies for cutting-edge compute environments.

Role Overview

The Commodity Sourcing Manager oversees sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and supply assurance for critical commodities within the expanding AI Data Center Supply Chain at Lambda. This individual contributor role manages the end-to-end commercial relationships across categories such as custom silicon, GPUs, CPUs, network hardware, power and cooling infrastructure, and memory or storage. Assignments flex based on business needs, requiring a professional capable of adapting quickly across various hardware components found in a GPU rack. The position requires working from the San Jose office 4 days per week, with designated remote work on Tuesdays.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute sourcing strategies aligned with roadmap requirements and long-term infrastructure growth across assigned hardware categories.
Drive supply diversification, second-source development, and risk mitigation plans for constrained supply chains.
Lead commercial negotiations regarding master supply agreements, capacity commitments, pricing, cost-downs, non-recurring engineering, and performance terms.
Manage day-to-day and executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers, leading business reviews, scorecards, and performance improvements.
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, hardware, data center infrastructure, supply chain planning, finance, legal, and operations teams.
Develop supply continuity plans addressing cost optimization, capacity availability, lead-time constraints, and geopolitical risks.

Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles within relevant hardware or component categories.
Demonstrated background in negotiating and managing supply agreements with hardware component manufacturers, OEMs, or ODMs.
Ability to rapidly build technical fluency across new commodity or technology domains.
Proven history of leading complex commercial negotiations and delivering measurable cost and supply outcomes.
Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen.
Experience working within constrained, long-lead-time, and high-growth supply environments.

Nice to Have

Experience sourcing across multiple commodity types within artificial intelligence, machine learning, or hyperscale data center infrastructure.
Versatility in moving between various commodity domains throughout a career rather than focusing on a single technology.
Background supporting hyperscale data center or artificial intelligence infrastructure programs.
Experience partnering with hardware or systems engineering teams on non-recurring engineering, qualification, or co-development agreements.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or a related field, with advanced degrees considered a plus.
