About this role

Backblaze is seeking an AI Workflow Engineer to join its Human Resources and AI Enablement department on a remote basis across Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, or Mexico. This role is ideal for a professional with two to four years of experience who wants to turn artificial intelligence strategy into practical tools for various business departments.

Role Overview

As an AI Workflow Engineer, the selected candidate operates inside the AI Program Office alongside the Director, AI Enablement. The primary focus is prototyping, constructing, and deploying AI-driven workflow solutions for non-GTM and non-Engineering business groups. Rather than focusing on research or high-level theory, the position emphasizes hands-on creation using prompt architectures, automation flows, lightweight agents, and API integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Build and deploy AI workflow solutions based on scoped use cases from the Director, AI Enablement.
Create prompt layers, automation flows, lightweight agents, RAG implementations, and API integrations connecting AI tools to existing business systems.
Develop working prototypes rapidly and maintain clear documentation for handoffs, audits, and future iterations.
Embed directly within internal groups such as Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing Ops, and Customer Success to map current processes and eliminate friction points.
Support user acceptance testing, troubleshoot emerging issues, and iterate solutions according to actual user feedback.
Assist the AI Program Office by constructing demos, evaluating tools from a builder's perspective, and feeding operational insights back into the program.

Requirements

Two to four years of professional experience, including meaningful time spent within business-facing functions like operations, finance, marketing, customer success, or human resources.
Practical, hands-on experience building with modern artificial intelligence tools, prompt engineering, automation platforms, and API integrations.
Working familiarity with RAG architectures and agent frameworks.
Proven capability to untangle messy real-world processes and construct faster, optimized solutions independently using code or no-code tools.
Strong communication skills to engage non-technical stakeholders, gather requirements, and explain technology without excessive jargon.
Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously across different stages of development.

Nice to Have

Direct working background inside or closely alongside G&A, Finance, Legal, Marketing Ops, or Customer Success teams.
Familiarity with AI governance foundations, data handling, and PII awareness.
Previous tenure in small program setups, startup environments, cloud infrastructure, SaaS, or storage companies.
A portfolio, GitHub repository, or tangible examples of prior AI workflows and automations.

RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
Prompt Engineering
Automation Platforms (Make, Zapier, n8n, or equivalent)
