Role Overview

Frontdesk AI seeks an AI / ML Engineer for a full-time position located in San Francisco. This hands-on role gives the right candidate the opportunity to shape the technical DNA of Known, an intelligent dating platform combining data, psychology, and conversational AI.

Key Responsibilities

Build multi-stage matching systems utilizing embedding-based retrieval and LLM re-ranking for personalization and search.

Build and maintain machine learning pipelines covering data ingestion, feature generation, model training, evaluation, and inference.

Prototype and productionize agentic workflows for natural language and voice interactions, including voice matching and conversational agents.

Deploy and monitor production machine learning models while maintaining safety, fairness, and performance guardrails.

Design and execute offline and online experiments to track engagement, conversation quality, and match success rates.

Partner with platform engineers and product designers to weave artificial intelligence into the user experience.

Requirements

Three or more years of professional experience in applied machine learning or data science engineering, focusing on personalization, search, or recommendation systems.

Advanced proficiency in Python alongside modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, and Hugging Face.

Practical background working with large language models, embeddings, and agentic workflows.

Knowledge of A/B testing methodologies and human-in-the-loop system design for evaluating production models.

A strong dedication to developing safe, fair, and human-centered artificial intelligence solutions.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with approximate nearest neighbor search systems and modern MLOps tools.

Background in reinforcement learning or preference modeling.
