Role Overview

Gallatin seeks an AI Engineer – Decision & Optimization Systems for its El Segundo, CA location. The professional in this position will develop the constraint, authority, and feasibility layers that determine what plans are allowed to exist before human actors, agents, or optimizers take action. The role collaborates with routing, packing, optimization, and AI-agent teams to ensure logistics plans align with policy, safety, and command hierarchy.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement formal feasibility checks that encode policy rules, authority limits, and command hierarchy.
Translate outputs originating from LLMs, planners, and probabilistic models into deterministic and enforceable constraints prior to execution.
Build and manage a centralized constraint framework governing timing windows, asset readiness, authority rules, and compatibility.
Construct data validation pipelines, establish data contracts, and build resilience against noisy or incomplete operational data.
Integrate feasibility checks into batch and real-time planning pipelines while validating system behavior through simulations and scenario testing.

Requirements

Proficiency in at least one programming language among Python, Java, Go, or C++.
Practical background building rule-based or constraint-based systems in production environments.
Experience integrating agent-based or AI reasoning into downstream execution or decision pipelines.
Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Applied Math, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Understanding of mixed-integer programming, linear programming, and constraint satisfaction systems.
Familiarity with tools such as Gurobi, CPLEX, Pyomo, OR-Tools, AMPL, or equivalent options.
U.S. citizenship is required due to government contracts.

Background working with supply chain, logistics, or routing systems.
Experience collaborating alongside planning or optimization teams.
