Role Overview

Gallatin is hiring an AI Engineer to build, maintain, and implement packing and allocation models for transport assets. The position involves designing algorithms that manage volume, weight, compatibility, sequencing, and asset usage while operating in El Segundo, California.

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and implement packing and allocation models for transport assets.
Encode constraints regarding volume, weight, compatibility, sequencing, and asset usage.
Develop and refine heuristics or exact methods to solve packing and allocation challenges.
Scale packing solutions across dynamic inputs and large fleets.
Take full ownership of data inputs, validate and normalize datasets, and manage incomplete data.
Integrate packing outputs into routing and resupply workflows while ensuring physical executability.

Requirements

Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language to produce deterministic, testable code.
Foundation in operations research, optimization, or applied algorithms for resource allocation.
Background in industrial engineering, applied math, operations research, or related fields.
Familiarity with implementing assignment algorithms, bin packing, knapsack, or multidimensional packing problems.
Understanding of optimization techniques including linear programming, mixed-integer programming, or heuristic methods.
United States citizenship.

Nice to Have

Experience integrating packing systems with simulation software.
Prior exposure to government or defense planning environments.
Experience with machine learning models, causal inference, and experimentation.
