User Experience Researcher, Platform
About this role
Developers building agents, tools, and enterprises on top of Claude lack a systematic understanding from user research that keeps pace with an evolving platform. To bridge this gap, this senior individual contributor role sits on the Platform research team inside Anthropic, embedded directly within the API, console, SDK, and infrastructure organization. You will collaborate with leadership to define the research agenda, investigate how technical users and large enterprises interact with the platform, and leverage Claude itself to build novel research tools.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will design and execute mixed-methods studies to guide product decisions across rapidly moving engineering teams. A successful candidate combines deep technical literacy—such as reading documentation or building small platform utilities—with hands-on experience using AI for research analysis and tooling. If you thrive in fast-paced environments where standard conventions do not yet exist and impact is favored over polish, this position offers a chance to shape the ecosystem around frontier AI systems.
What you will do
- Collaborate with Platform leaders and cross-functional teams to identify key knowledge gaps and establish an independent research agenda.
- Design and execute end-to-end qualitative and quantitative studies using mixed methods.
- Investigate the full spectrum of platform users, ranging from individual developers and engineering teams to enterprise buyers and administrators.
- Communicate research findings effectively to product managers, designers, and engineers to directly drive product decisions.
- Build internal tools and infrastructure to accelerate research velocity by heavily leveraging Claude and inventing new methodologies where needed.
What you need
- Demonstrated industry UX research experience independently scoping, designing, running, and reporting end-to-end studies.
- Strong mixed-methods expertise encompassing skilled qualitative interviewing of technical users alongside rigorous survey design and analysis.
- A technical background demonstrated through software engineering experience, a history of developer-experience research on APIs and SDKs, or deep product research in technical domains.
- Practical technical fluency to read documentation, build small platform applications, and keep up with highly technical teams.
- Hands-on use of artificial intelligence in your own research workflows to build analyses and custom tooling.
Nice to have
- 8+ years of industry UX research experience
- Experience setting product-level or strategy-level research direction in partnership with organizational leaders
- Experience embedding with fast-moving, engineering-led product teams to earn influence
- Background in API-ecosystem or developer-platform research
- Experience researching pricing, packaging, or usage-based developer products
