About this role

Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems designed to be safe and beneficial for society. The Treasury, Liquidity & Capital Planning team manages one of the fastest-growing balance sheets in the technology sector, handling massive infrastructure commitments to support large-scale AI research. This foundational role involves building the liquidity and capital planning function from the ground up, establishing direct cash flow models, forecasting cadences, and working capital strategies.

Working closely with FP&A, Accounting, Legal, and Infrastructure Finance, this person will own the forward view of the company's cash and balance sheet. Responsibilities include running scenario analyses for capital allocation, preparing executive materials for senior leadership, and using AI tools like Claude to automate treasury workflows and reporting. An ideal candidate brings extensive corporate finance background, thrives in ambiguity as the sole treasury team member initially, and possesses the autonomy to drive complex cross-functional initiatives to completion.

What you will do

  • Build, own, and continuously improve a direct cash flow model and forecast across multiple legal entities and currencies, connecting bank transaction data directly to the operating plan.
  • Establish a disciplined forecasting cadence covering monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles complete with forecast-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Partner with FP&A and Strategic Finance to support capital allocation choices through scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and liquidity trade-off evaluations.
  • Monitor working capital drivers like receivables, payables, DSO, and DPO to anticipate future cash flow impacts and optimize liquidity.
  • Prepare executive-level materials and cash flow analyses highlighting key drivers, risks, and opportunities for the Treasurer, CFO, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Tax, and business teams to challenge assumptions, improve forecasting accuracy, and scale reporting controls.
  • Serve as a backup for the investments desk covering portfolios, money market funds, deposits, and separately managed account instructions, as well as the FX, commodities, rates, and credit desk.

What you need

  • Demonstrated experience building and owning a direct cash flow model and forecast across multiple legal entities and currencies.
  • Ability to project balance sheets, leverage, and covenant metrics alongside cash, translating those trade-offs for CFOs and non-Treasury stakeholders.
  • Track record of standing up models, reporting mechanisms, and controls where none previously existed while being comfortable operating as a standalone team.
  • Direct working experience with bank feeds, ERP cash flows, and portfolio reports.
  • Familiarity with money market funds, deposits, short-duration securities, and basic hedging mechanics sufficient to cover a trading desk.
  • Strong judgment in ambiguous situations paired with the relationship-building skills needed to work effectively across Finance, Legal, and the broader business.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in treasury or corporate finance
  • Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to automate Treasury workflows and reporting
  • Familiarity with a treasury management system, Clearwater, planning tools, or a data warehouse such as BigQuery
  • Direct execution of trades under a Treasury policy including securities, money market funds, deposits, and FX spot and forwards
  • Holding a CFA, CTP, or CPA designation

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and annual salary range of $230,000 to $300,000 USD
  • Optional equity donation matching
  • Generous vacation and parental leave
  • Flexible working hours
  • Access to office space in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle
