Role Overview
Anthropic is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Hardware Systems to lead execution for custom hardware from initial concept through production deployment in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. This position suits an experienced program manager who wants to own the end-to-end lifecycle of frontier AI hardware infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own the integrated hardware systems program plan covering boards, chassis, racks, and interconnects from initial requirements through EVT, DVT, PVT, qualification, and production ramp.
Drive execution with original design manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and component vendors by managing statements of work, build schedules, deliverable tracking, factory readiness, and escalations.
Stand up and run the new product introduction cadence, including build matrices, engineering reviews, design for excellence checks, issue triage, and exit criteria.
Direct the bring-up and validation program for new platforms, coordinating lab logistics, firmware, board management controllers, diagnostics, test coverage, and reliability targets.
Manage critical interfaces across silicon teams, datacenter requirements, infrastructure software, and supply chain operations.
Run partner and technology evaluations to deliver build, buy, or co-design recommendations to the architecture team.
Communicate program status upward and outward to audiences ranging from engineers to executives.
Develop and share artificial intelligence-assisted approaches for hardware program management, such as issue-tracker synthesis and specification consistency checking.
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in hardware systems or new product introduction program management for compute, networking, storage, or accelerator platforms.
Direct ownership history of taking at least one hardware platform from concept through volume production, including managing the engineering validation test through production arc.
Working technical fluency across the hardware stack, covering power delivery, thermal management, mechanics, high-speed interconnects, board design, and system management.
Proven background managing original design manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and component vendors with hands-on experience handling statement of work negotiations and build tracking.
Demonstrated track record of establishing program mechanisms on a new or early-stage hardware effort.
Strong written communication skills to author clear plans, reviews, and executive updates.
Ability to operate with high autonomy and limited process within a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
Experience working with artificial intelligence and machine learning accelerator systems like GPUs, custom ASICs, high-performance computing, or hyperscale datacenter platforms.
Experience taking a first-generation, custom-silicon-based system from initial bring-up through full fleet deployment.
Familiarity with liquid-cooled or high-density rack architectures, high power distribution, or optical interconnect programs.
Background coordinating closely with silicon teams on chip-package-system interfaces.
Practical experience using artificial intelligence tools within professional workflows.
