Role Overview

The Technical Program Manager, Finance Systems & Compliance at Notion leads the systems, data, and process work behind billing, revenue recognition, financial close, and compliance controls. This position suits an experienced program professional who wants to connect finance operations with engineering, data, and product teams in San Francisco or New York City.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the technical counterpart for finance on new product, pricing, and packaging launches, translating commercial models into operational requirements across order capture, rating, billing, tax, and revenue recognition.
Broker trade-offs when launch dates and system realities conflict, establishing manual workarounds with clear owners and expiration dates while planning automated paths.
Own multi-quarter roadmaps and end-to-end delivery for finance systems programs including ERP, billing and subscription management, CPQ, revenue subledgers, procurement, and reporting layers.
Run operating rhythms including intake, prioritization, decision logs, early risk escalation, and metrics tracking.
Map current-state processes and data lineage end to end, resolve reconciliation gaps, and partner with Data Engineering on data contracts.
Drive IT General Controls (ITGC) workstreams across in-scope financial systems, focusing on logical access, change management, SDLC pipelines, job scheduling, and data interfaces.
Facilitate control design into new systems prior to go-live and act as the systems-side point of contact for internal and external audits.
Build and evaluate AI-assisted workflows with appropriate human review gates for financial reporting tasks.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in technical program management, business systems, finance transformation, or a closely related field.
Substantial background working directly with finance or revenue systems.
Working fluency in finance operations, including a solid understanding of quote-to-cash, record-to-report, and revenue recognition principles.
Hands-on ITGC program experience covering access, change management, and IT operations for financial systems, along with practical SOX knowledge.
AI-native operating mindset with proven experience using artificial intelligence to draft requirements, synthesize status, triage intake, and compile evidence.
Track record of independently delivering end-to-end technical programs such as system modernizations, migrations, or platform implementations.
Working understanding of data lifecycles, analytics tooling, and change management for business systems.
Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority, chase ambiguous items to closure, and communicate clearly with leadership.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience working with enterprise billing, ERP, and revenue systems like NetSuite or Stripe.
Experience supporting IPO readiness or first-year SOX programs, including establishing ITGCs from scratch.
CISA, CIA, or equivalent certification, or embedded experience on an IT audit team.
Experience building internal tooling or agents on workspace platforms.
