Role Overview

Sierra is seeking a Technical Accounting Lead for its San Francisco office to manage technical accounting policies, audits, and financial transformations. This full-time position suits an experienced CPA with a background in public accounting and high-growth enterprise software who wants to build an AI-native finance function in an in-person environment.

Key Responsibilities

Own technical accounting by leading the documentation of policies regarding cost of revenue, allocations, leases, revenue, stock-based compensation, and fixed assets.
Serve as an advisor on strategic investments, partnerships, and acquisitions while reviewing monthly financials for policy adherence.
Lead audit and IPO readiness efforts by coordinating with external audit firms on quarterly and annual requirements.
Oversee the review of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement presentations to ensure compliance with financial statement disclosure requirements.
Drive Finance Transformation initiatives by upgrading tech stacks, challenging current workflows, and developing an AI-first approach to scale accounting operations.

Requirements

Active CPA license.
Two to five or more years of experience at a Big Four firm, ideally servicing public companies.
Two to five or more years of in-house experience at a high-growth enterprise software company.
Strong proficiency in US GAAP.
Ability to identify areas for improvement, build AI-driven solutions, and foster operational efficiency.
Structured, self-directed, detail-oriented mindset with a bias for simplifying and automating processes.

Nice to Have

Previous IPO experience with an enterprise B2B software company.
Proficiency with a modern office-of-the-CFO tech stack.
