Role Overview

xAI is hiring a full-time Supervisor, Power Generation to work on-site in Southaven, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee. You will lead technicians operating, maintaining, and repairing power generation systems that support AI supercomputing infrastructure. The role requires managing multiple workstreams, ensuring safety compliance, and keeping generation online through disciplined maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead plant technicians, process technicians, and electrical technicians handling inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of gas turbines, generators, balance-of-plant, fluid systems, HVAC, and electrical systems up to 34.5 kV
Schedule daily work, set priorities, and balance planned maintenance with real-time plant alarms, trips, and outages
Direct switching, isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), start-up, shutdown, and restoration activities to ensure safe electrical, mechanical, and process work
Maintain work execution quality by managing procedures, work orders, records, and CMMS close-outs
Enforce company safety procedures including LOTO, NFPA 70E arc-flash protocols, confined space entry, and hot work
Support commissioning, outages, and plant start-ups alongside engineering teams, operators, and contractors
Coordinate with utility personnel and internal engineering teams regarding clearances and switching operations
Oversee third-party vendors and contractors while coordinating with procurement and accounts payable
Communicate daily plant status, team performance, and escalation items to the Manager
Drive team effectiveness through coaching, development, and clear performance standards

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a power plant, generating station, or high-reliability industrial facility
Willingness to perform physical, hands-on work in all weather environments, tight quarters, and at heights
Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and on-call schedules
Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to work on-site with potential travel to other locations

Nice to Have

Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical, construction, or engineering field
Hands-on background in gas turbine operations, process systems, or medium-voltage electrical maintenance
Prior experience leading a mixed-discipline operations and maintenance team
Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics
Familiarity with CMMS software, budgeting, and vendor management
