Role Overview

The Infrastructure Security Engineer will design, implement, and harden physical and private-cloud foundations spanning servers, networks, identity, and orchestration. Responsibilities include carrying this security posture into containers, automation, and hybrid connectivity across data centers, colocation facilities, and hybrid environments supporting related systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design and secure bare-metal and private-cloud architectures, covering servers, storage, out-of-band management, and BIOS/UEFI/BMC firmware posture.
Harden physical and virtual fleets through OS baselines, CIS benchmarks, vulnerability management, and secure boot implementations.
Manage hardware lifecycle security, firmware, and provisioning via PXE/Kickstart.
Build network foundations including segmentation, DNS, PKI, load balancers, and IDS/IPS.
Establish hybrid connectivity, site-to-site VPN, zero-trust access, and manage identities across Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, and cloud IAM.
Design secure container and Kubernetes standards on bare metal with proper RBAC, network policies, and secret management.
Maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration management using Puppet.
Monitor and respond to security events, maintain SIEM data pipelines, and build security operations tooling using Python, Terraform, and Puppet.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Three to five years of experience in infrastructure security, platform security, or related hands-on roles.
Direct experience securing bare-metal, data-center, or private-cloud environments.
Proficiency with firmware, BMC/iDRAC/iLO, and PXE/Kickstart provisioning.
Strong expertise with Puppet for configuration management and fleet hardening.
Understanding of network security, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity.
Experience with hybrid identity integrated with cloud IAM and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes security on bare metal.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Bash, and Golang for automation.
Familiarity with compliance standards including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and NIST CSF.
Background in regulated financial platforms or money transmission.
Location within or willingness to relocate to the SF Bay Area, Austin, New York, Palo Alto, or Seattle.

Nice to Have

Deep expertise operating physical server fleets or private cloud platforms like VMware, OpenStack, Proxmox, or Nutanix.
Security certifications such as CCSP, CSSK, OSCP, or network and cloud security specialties.
Experience with GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and SIEM platforms like Wazuh.
Contributions to open-source infrastructure or security projects, and interest in AI for infrastructure security.
