Role Overview

The Supervisor, OSP Fiber is a full-time position located in Southaven, MS and Memphis, TN. This role requires leading a team of five fiber technicians while personally performing field work, including installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of outside plant fiber infrastructure for a data center. The supervisor sets daily priorities, manages team safety and quality, and ensures adherence to construction and cutover schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Hire, train, schedule, and develop a team of five fiber technicians, providing coaching and coverage planning.
Plan and assign daily OSP work covering aerial and underground placement, vault work, splicing, terminations, and testing.
Lead by example as a working supervisor by performing splicing, testing, and other field tasks as needed.
Enforce safety regulations, personal protective equipment use, lockout procedures, traffic control, and utility locates.
Manage the quality of splices, OTDR and OLTS test results, labeling, and as-built records.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, utilities, and data center teams regarding design changes and outages.
Track production metrics, material usage, and report status and risks to leadership.
Oversee inventory and management of tools, fusion splicers, test equipment, vehicles, and consumables.
Ensure field work aligns with issued drawings and capture redlines to close as-builts with engineering.
Support commissioning, emergency restoration, and after-hours work required in a 24/7 data center environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic OSP installation, splicing, testing, or maintenance.
Minimum of 2 years of experience leading technicians as a supervisor, foreman, or team lead.
Hands-on proficiency with fusion splicing and fiber test equipment such as OTDR and OLTS.
Willingness to work outdoors in construction conditions, and to work nights, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working at elevated heights.

Nice to Have

Associate's degree or trade certification in fiber optics, telecommunications, or a related field.
Experience supervising OSP or data center fiber crews through new site build-outs.
Fiber certifications from organizations like FOA CFOT, BICSI, Corning, or AFL.
Experience handling aerial and buried fiber, conduit banks, vaults, and building entrances.
Familiarity with TIA and BICSI guidelines, NESC, utility locates, and local construction practices.
Ability to read OSP drawings, splice diagrams, and GIS maps while producing accurate redlines.
OSHA 10 or 30, first aid, or CPR safety training.
Experience establishing a new team, including hiring and equipment setup.
