Strategic Projects Lead, Recruiting
About this role
Professionals who thrive in ambiguity and enjoy untangling complex organizational problems will find this role a natural fit. Anthropic is looking for a Strategic Projects Lead to take on recruiting's most difficult, cross-cutting initiatives that span multiple teams. Operating as the most senior individual contributor for how hiring functions, this person will bring structure and coordination to high-stakes decisions as the company scales. Success relies heavily on building trust across senior stakeholders and driving work forward through partnership rather than direct ownership.
In this position, the individual will own the operating rhythm across support teams, spot recurring friction, and design processes that persist through company-wide changes. Responsibilities include acting as the direct responsible individual for headcount and workforce planning, establishing interviewing standards, and turning analytics into simple standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of how talent operations run and can navigate complex environments with minimal guidance.
What you will do
- Take on recruiting's biggest ambiguous bets by defining problems, shipping testable versions, and handing them off as repeatable programs.
- Own the operating rhythm across the teams that support recruiting so planning, reviewing, and decision-making happen as one function.
- Spot recurring friction and fix the system behind it rather than just addressing individual cases.
- Own process design when company-wide changes run through recruiting and drive real adoption with partners.
- Act as the direct responsible individual for headcount, workforce planning, hiring pace, and readiness for new regions.
- Own the operating standard for interviewing such as scheduling lead time and interviewer load while leading cross-team diagnosis.
- Turn analytics into standards and simple standard operating procedures while building documentation for new leaders.
What you need
- Have 8 to 10+ years of experience in program management, business operations, chief of staff, or people and talent roles at a fast-growing company.
- Have been part of a talent team or partnered closely with one to understand day-to-day recruiting operations.
- Think in systems by connecting pieces, anticipating downstream effects, and designing cross-team fixes.
- Have owned several complex workstreams simultaneously and made hard prioritization calls without much guidance.
- Set strategy and vision for an area rather than simply executing someone else's plan.
- Have put AI to work in real workflows by redesigning processes, automating repetitive layers, and shipping faster.
- Have taken a big process or policy change through an organization end to end and made it stick.
Nice to have
- Experience running recruiting or talent operations at global scale
- Working knowledge of recruiting compliance like OFCCP, GDPR, and regional employment law
- Experience in deep-tech environments with technical recruiting complexity
- Experience operating across multiple time zones and jurisdictions
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- Optional equity donation matching
- Generous vacation and parental leave
- Flexible working hours
