Anthropic is currently seeking a Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Distribution to join the team in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. This position is ideal for an experienced backend specialist eager to scale AI systems across cloud platforms and enterprise environments.

Role Overview

The Claude Platform is growing quickly and serves developers and enterprises at scale, which requires transforming how and where it is deployed. The Distribution team owns this transformation by making the Claude API a cloud-native, managed product that runs wherever customers need it. This includes cross-cloud deployments and operations on Anthropic's own infrastructure with enterprise-grade security and compliance. The work is split into two major workstreams: Claude Platform on the Clouds and Enterprise Readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Make the Claude Platform a top-tier offering on major cloud service providers including AWS, GCP, and Azure by bringing APIs, control planes, and features through provider front doors.
Collaborate across internal teams such as Infrastructure, Systems, Networking, Databases, and Inference to solve deep technical problems at scale.
Ship next-generation enterprise enablement features that unblock regulated customers and help existing ones scale.
Focus on enterprise growth, security, and compliance, delivering capabilities such as key management and encryption, audit APIs, usage visibility, access control, and international data residency.
Partner closely with cloud service providers to make enterprise features available on cloud platforms.

Requirements

Bring a minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems, ideally at a tech lead level or equivalent.
Take a product-focused approach to platform work by building solutions that are robust, scalable, and easy for customers to adopt.
Own large-scale infrastructure systems and independently lead ambiguous, cross-team technical projects from design through production.
Demonstrate experience with cloud infrastructure at scale across GCP, AWS, or Azure and/or Enterprise SaaS experience in a multi-tenant context.
Possess a background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments.
Show full ownership of work from design to deployment and operations, with proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Adhere to the location-based hybrid policy, which requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
