Staff / Senior Software Engineer, Security Fusion Platform
About this role
Engineers who thrive on building foundational backend systems from scratch and taking complete ownership of production infrastructure will find a strong fit in this position. Anthropic is expanding its Data Center Security Engineering team to develop the Security Fusion Platform, a centralized system that gathers physical security signals across data centers and translates them into actionable intelligence for analysts.
This role involves designing and operating the core event bus, normalization schemas, and analytics pipelines that ingest sensor data, video streams, and building management feeds. The software built here serves as the bridge between raw hardware signals and 24/7 security operations, requiring robust failure handling and close collaboration with site engineers and external vendors.
Ideal candidates bring a track record of running event-driven backend architectures, directing integrator deliverables, and designing resilient systems that operate reliably under pressure.
What you will do
- Design and build the event bus, normalized event schema, and adapter contracts that ingest telemetry from independent sensors and systems.
- Develop correlation and alerting services that transform independent events into actionable alerts for security analysts.
- Build classification and analytics pipelines incorporating computer vision and multi-sensor fusion.
- Create analyst surfaces including queues, escalation tooling, dashboards, camera viewers, and video wall content.
- Deliver durable, tamper-evident event history with retention policies and access controls to satisfy audit evidence requirements.
- Instrument comprehensive metrics and self-monitoring to track detection rates, latency, telemetry loss, and fail-secure behaviors.
- Deploy site-local components and central synchronization services, then commission each site and transition operations to the watch team.
- Write technical requirements and acceptance criteria for external vendors and integrators while reviewing their deliverables.
What you need
- Built and operated event-driven backend systems in production environments.
- Proficient in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust, with experience using message buses or event streaming systems like Kafka.
- Owned a system end to end, including setting the design, making technical tradeoffs, shipping to production, and maintaining ongoing accountability.
- Integrated external systems outside direct control, such as vendor APIs, on-prem appliances, video platforms, or building management systems.
- Directed vendor or integrator work by authoring requirements, establishing acceptance criteria, and evaluating deliverables.
- Designed resilient architectures capable of handling silent feeds, lost network paths, and misbehaving telemetry sources.
Nice to have
- Experience building or operating a security operations platform, physical security operations center, or associated detection engineering
- Experience building machine learning or computer vision inference pipelines over video and sensor streams
- PSIM or VMS integration experience, or familiarity with physical access control and building systems data
- Experience producing evidence for auditors or assessors covering log integrity, retention, and chain of custody
- Experience using AI-assisted development tooling as a core part of the engineering workflow
