Role Overview

Socure is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for a hybrid position based in San Francisco, CA. This advanced individual contributor role focuses on designing and optimizing machine learning solutions to power core fraud detection and risk management systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement advanced deep learning models such as transformers, CNNs/RNNs, and graph learning algorithms for fraud and risk management.
Build and optimize models using various data types including tabular data, natural language, point clouds, and images.
Manage the complete machine learning lifecycle ranging from data exploration and feature engineering to production deployment and monitoring.
Take full ownership of project delivery timelines, data quality, and proactive issue resolution.
Guide and mentor junior data scientists while fostering a culture of experimentation and rapid iteration.
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Risk departments to shape data requirements and strategic initiatives.
Conduct thorough research on novel data sources and advanced algorithms to improve fraud detection capabilities.
Share insights and strategic recommendations effectively with technical and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

Hold a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or an equivalent technical field, or possess equivalent professional experience.
Bring 8 or more years of data science or machine learning experience, preferably within a high-growth technology or fintech sector.
Background in fraud prevention, risk modeling, or identity verification.
Hands-on background creating and deploying deep learning models like transformers, CNNs/RNNs, and graph learning.
Experience handling diverse data modalities including text, images, point clouds, and tabular datasets.
Proven ability to mentor teammates, drive complex outcomes, and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Nice to Have

Practical experience with real-time model inferencing in production environments.
Familiarity with Large Language Models and Agentic AI frameworks and infrastructure such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Ray.
