About this role
Guiding fast-moving AI companies through usage-based billing launches forms the core of daily operations in this position. Driving the technical sale from discovery to implementation enables customers to go live rapidly while building deep expertise in AI monetization challenges. Joining Stripe means working with a platform approaching monetization alongside an experienced team that has previously built and sold startups.
Operating at the intersection of technical sales, implementation, and customer success, the team serves AI-first organizations with unique velocity needs. High-agency individuals who thrive in startup environments will find room to shape processes from zero to one and influence the direction of the product. Candidates who enjoy solving technical problems in real-time and engaging directly with technical founders will find a strong alignment with the goals of the group.
What you will do
- Take qualified inbound leads and drive them through discovery, demos, proofs of concept, and the technical win.
- Deliver streamlined demonstrations tailored specifically for technical founders, product teams, and engineering groups.
- Provide customers with clear implementation plans to accelerate their usage-based billing product launches.
- Write code snippets, configuration examples, and integration guides to support customer onboarding.
- Pair program and collaborate directly with customer engineering teams during initial setups and proofs of concept.
- Design upstream and downstream integrations into prospect systems with a pragmatic bias toward rapid deployment.
- Provide consultative guidance to prospects regarding pricing and packaging strategy for generative AI and LLM use cases.
What you need
- Bring at least 3 years of experience in technical, customer-facing roles involving software-as-a-service products such as solutions architecture or sales engineering.
- Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience working with, at, or selling to AI companies with an understanding of their market landscape.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to independently own and drive customer-facing engagements and relationships.
- Exhibit strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new systems, write code snippets, and guide technical implementations.
- Operate effectively in high-velocity environments where speed-to-value is critical for customer launches.
- Communicate excellently with technical buyers including engineers, product managers, and technical founders.
Nice to have
- Deep knowledge of the quote-to-cash space, including integration with Salesforce, NetSuite, or CPQ tools
- Experience as a software engineer or product manager
- Experience in a pure sales role selling to technical buyers or serving as an early salesperson at a startup
- Familiarity with AI developer tooling such as Cursor, Vercel, LangChain, and the broader AI infrastructure ecosystem

Questions candidates ask
What kind of companies will I be working with?
You will be working with fast-moving AI companies, LLM providers, generative AI companies across image, video, and audio, and AI tooling wrapper companies. Amazing companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, NVIDIA, TogetherAI, and HuggingFace use the platform.
What does the deal cycle ownership entail?
Unlike traditional sales engineering roles, this position owns large parts or all of the deal cycle from the first call through the technical win. You will also get hands-on with implementation to ensure customers go live quickly.
What is the team environment like?
You will be joining an experienced team that includes founders who have successfully built and sold startups before. The team operates very much like a startup with a lot still to figure out and tremendous room for high-agency individuals to make an impact.
