Software Engineer, Sensor Fusion
About this role
Engineers who enjoy applying mathematics, software engineering principles, and signal processing to solve complex real-world challenges will thrive in this environment. Anduril Industries builds defense technology powered by Lattice OS, an AI-driven operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into a real-time 3D command center.
The Air & Missile Defense Radar team develops tracking algorithms and software systems designed to detect and characterize airborne threats instantly. Engineers on this team design sophisticated tracking solutions, build distributed systems to process large volumes of sensor data, and construct simulation environments to validate system capabilities for government and industry customers.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Have at least 2 years of relevant experience combined with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or possess equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Maintain a solid foundation in mathematics including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
- Experience with high-performance computing including multithreading, GPU acceleration, and distributed systems
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
Benefits
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
- Top-tier benefits for full-time employees supporting health, recovery, and whatever comes next
