Software Engineer, Robotics Tracking and Fusion
About this role
Engineers who thrive on translating complex mathematical concepts into deployed defense technology will find a strong fit within this team at Anduril Industries. Working inside small, mission-driven groups in Washington, District of Columbia, the software engineer will focus on developing algorithms for target tracking, state estimation, and sensor fusion to power the Lattice OS operating system. The daily work involves prototyping probabilistic reasoning systems, analyzing real-time data from diverse sensors, and building decision support tools that handle noisy information streams in operational environments.
Anduril exists to transform military capabilities through modern software and hardware integration, moving from research directly into deployed tactical systems. Success in this role requires a solid foundation in applied mathematics and algorithm design combined with hands-on experience in C, C++, Python, or Matlab. Someone who enjoys iterative development cycles, statistical modeling, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to solve physical-world tracking challenges will do well here.
What you will do
- Define and influence the direction of a small team using subject-matter expertise in target tracking and state estimation.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, and state estimation within agile environments.
- Develop high-performance software for real-time systems, tactical implementations, and simulation tools.
- Design robust filters and probabilistic reasoning systems to interpret noisy or ambiguous sensor data.
- Analyze system performance with high-fidelity simulations and statistical techniques to validate technology benefits.
- Customize algorithms and software for mission-critical use cases and integrate tracking technologies across the software development lifecycle.
What you need
- Demonstrate programming expertise in C, C++, Python, and Matlab with proficiency in algorithm design and statistical modeling.
- Possess strong knowledge of target tracking techniques such as Kalman filters, particle filters, and multi-target tracking algorithms.
- Show experience in state estimation, including Bayesian filtering, sensor fusion, and recursive estimation.
- Apply solid understanding of linear algebra, optimization, probability, and stochastic processes.
- Understand signal processing techniques for interpreting diverse sensor data like radar, lidar, and EO/IR.
- Bring familiarity with big data pipelines, NoSQL databases, and background in machine learning for target tracking.
- Maintain eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Benefits
- Highly competitive equity grants
- Comprehensive, competitive benefits package supported at little to no cost to employees
