Software Engineer, Robotics Data Foundation (Cloud)
About this role
The Robotics Data Foundation team builds Anduril's vehicle telemetry backbone, spanning from onboard systems to the cloud, to power autonomous defense technology and Lattice OS. Engineers on this team design and build the cloud systems that host ingestion pipelines, storage systems, and tooling to carry vehicle telemetry from onboard systems and make it discoverable across the fleet. Professionals in this role normalize data across flight controllers, vehicle management systems, and sensor payloads while building infrastructure that supports large-scale batch ingestion and low-latency streaming. What you will do
- Design and build cloud systems that host ingestion pipelines, storage systems, and tooling for vehicle telemetry.
- Normalize data across flight controllers, vehicle management systems, mission systems, and sensor payloads.
- Build infrastructure that supports large-scale batch ingestion of recorded telemetry alongside low-latency streaming.
- Develop high-availability and stable software to ingest high volumes of telemetry across the company.
- Create extensible architectures that enable easy integration of bespoke data sources into a standardized ingestion framework.
- Deliver live telemetry streams and recorded data to cloud destinations and analysis tools for real-time visibility.
- Build cloud-native systems that deliver a subset of capabilities to edge nodes in offline or air-gapped settings, including classified environments.
- Engage with business line engineering teams to understand specific data requirements and deliver iterative solutions.
What you need
- Demonstrated experience with modern lakehouse architectures such as Iceberg and Delta Lake.
- Familiarity with ETL systems including Flyte, Dagster, Airflow, and Argo Workflows.
- Hands-on experience with distributed data processing engines like Spark and Trino.
- Background in developing and operating high-throughput streaming data pipelines using tools like Spark Streaming, Flink, or Kafka.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python, Java, Rust, and/or Go.
- Experience building and operating cloud systems with containerization and deployability technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and GitOps tools.
- U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
