Role Overview

The Infrastructure Security team at WorkOS delivers vital primitives that allow internal engineering groups to build applications securely and meet compliance standards. This role focuses heavily on workload identity and authorization, ensuring internal applications authenticate safely while maintaining a frictionless developer experience. The successful candidate will design systems that replace traditional static secrets with short-lived credentials and establish unified authorization frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Construct workload identity infrastructure that embeds short-lived identity credentials into application runtimes by default.
Introduce identity-based authentication to major internal services, establishing them as standard practices for new and existing applications.
Phase out static passwords and service tokens, deploying identity-authenticated egress proxies and managed secret rotation.
Develop a centralized interface and framework to manage and enforce authorization policies consistently.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional software engineering background emphasizing security-focused platforms, distributed systems, or infrastructure.
Comprehensive understanding of workload identity systems, fine-grained authorization, and secrets management.
Background in operating and building production-grade infrastructure with a strong emphasis on reliability and handling failure modes.
Demonstrated capability in leading large-scale migrations and driving the adoption of platform features across different teams.
