WorkOS is seeking a Product Security Engineer to join the engineering team on a remote basis within the United States and Canada. Role Overview

The Product Security Engineer will lead secure design efforts, perform offensive security testing, and partner closely with engineering teams to build secure-by-default systems. Customer trust is paramount at WorkOS, and this role directly safeguards the identities and data of hundreds of millions of users by identifying risks and mitigating vulnerabilities early in the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead secure design efforts by collaborating with engineering teams on secure design and code reviews, identifying risks early.
Build secure-by-default systems that systemically reduce risk and make secure development effortless for engineers.
Perform offensive security testing through penetration tests and code audits on new and existing products.
Improve security tooling by integrating and enhancing static analysis, supply chain security, and vulnerability management across pipelines.
Operate the responsible disclosure program by automating workflows, validating submissions, and coordinating remediation.
Write and ship production code to remediate vulnerabilities and enhance overall product security posture.
Engage directly with customers to answer security-related questions and build trust.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a security engineering or security-focused software engineering role.
Ability to execute across diverse security functions, including security assessments, penetration testing, responsible disclosure, and tooling integration.
Familiarity with common industry security tooling.
Proven ability to spot software vulnerabilities, demonstrated through CVEs, bug bounties, blog posts, or past work experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored for partnering with engineering teams.
Comfort reading and writing code, with the ability to effectively leverage AI throughout the process.

Nice to Have

Prior experience working within the authentication and identity domain.
Experience writing production-level code, particularly when developing security features.
