About this role

Socure is hiring a full-time Software Engineer II for the Agentic AI Foundations team based out of the Hub in Toronto. This role suits a professional with at least two years of software engineering experience looking to build foundational agent platforms and large language model systems.

Role Overview

The Agentic AI Foundations team creates core platforms, systems, and primitives that transition Socure from traditional workflows into agent-native operations. As a Software Engineer II, the selected candidate will help design, build, and harden a secure, vendor-agnostic agent platform alongside senior and staff engineers. This position offers a hands-on, zero-to-one environment with significant exposure to architecting and operating production-grade agentic systems.

Key Responsibilities

Build core components of a vendor-agnostic agent platform including orchestration, tool use, runtime systems, and memory.
Implement reliability and evaluation tooling such as pipelines, harnesses, and metrics to monitor agent safety, robustness, and performance in production.
Deploy safety and governance controls like guardrails, human-in-the-loop review mechanisms, and policy enforcement.
Create retrieval, data grounding, and memory elements to ensure agents remain accurate, context-aware, and aligned with company policies.
Prototype and iterate on multi-step execution, agent planning, and service coordination using actual internal workflows.
Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate agent-powered workflows using established platform primitives.
Apply and refine best practices for secure, observable, and scalable agent systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field from a top-tier institution, or equivalent practical experience.
Two or more years of professional software engineering background in infrastructure, distributed systems, backend platforms, or comparable areas.
Strong foundational understanding of large language models and agentic AI architectures, tool use, prompting, and evaluation approaches.
Solid comprehension of model-serving infrastructure and GPU computing concepts such as CUDA, vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, Ollama, Triton Inference Server, or LLMLite.
Foundation in distributed systems covering concurrency, observability, fault tolerance, and performance.
Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language like Python, Java, or Go, paired with cloud-native infrastructure and API familiarity.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous, early-stage problem spaces with guidance from senior team members.

Nice to Have

Background in multi-agent systems, workflow orchestration, or distributed coordination frameworks.
Experience developing agent platforms, LLM routing, fine-tuning, or caching pipelines.
Exposure to experimentation, evaluation frameworks, ML systems, or benchmarking.
Familiarity with AI safety, security, policy systems, guardrails, or responsible AI frameworks.
Experience implementing knowledge graphs, retrieval systems, or enterprise data platforms.
