Software Engineer, Discovery
About this role
Building highly-available and scalable services, data models, and APIs, engineers on the Lattice for Cyber team at Anduril Industries spend their days designing distributed software systems that operate reliably between the far edge and the enterprise across degraded, intermittent, and contested networks. They integrate best-of-breed cyber tools into the Lattice platform, build command and control frameworks, and work directly with customers to deploy software in the field. Operating from a blank sheet of paper, this founding team creates the core primitives for offensive cyber products powered by autonomous vehicles, mesh networks, and the Lattice operating system.
Candidates joining this group tackle complex challenges involving networking, autonomy, systems integration, and robotics while maintaining a pragmatic approach to engineering. Successful software professionals in this role combine a strong technical background in languages such as C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript with the ability to debug across the full stack from logs and networking to hardware boundaries. Anyone eager to establish clean interfaces, write thorough documentation, and collaborate directly with program teams to deliver mission-critical defense capabilities will find a fitting environment here.
What you will do
- Build scalable services, data models, and APIs that power command and control frameworks, autonomous cyber behavior trees, SIGINT analysis tools, and data exfiltration pipelines.
- Integrate best-of-breed cyber tools and products into Lattice via custom SDKs or white-glove integrations.
- Work directly with program teams and customers as they build real missions on your products.
- Contribute to technical leadership, design clarity, and long-term maintainability across a growing software stack.
- Design distributed software systems that work reliably between the far edge and the enterprise across degraded, intermittent, and contested networks.
- Incorporate AI and LLM-enabled workflow features where they improve analyst or operator effectiveness without compromising system reliability.
- Build SDKs and integrations to allow best-of-breed vendors to incorporate their software and tools into the Lattice Cyber platform.
What you need
- Bring five or more years of experience designing, building, and operating production software.
- Demonstrate strong software engineering experience in one or more of C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, or modern TypeScript and React application development.
- Possess the ability to debug across the full stack, including logs, networking, interfaces, configuration, and hardware or software boundaries.
- Have practical experience with Linux and containerized deployment.
- Maintain comfort collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and translating ambiguous requirements into clean software interfaces.
- Show strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reviews and architecture discussions.
- Be based in, or willing to relocate to, the Washington, DC or the Orange County, CA metro areas.
- Demonstrate willingness to travel up to 20 percent of the time to support program teams and customer events while remaining US security clearance eligible.
