Role Overview

Sierra is seeking a Software Engineer, Context Engine to join the full-stack data team at their San Francisco, CA office. This full-time role suits a developer eager to build scalable systems that make customer-facing AI agents smarter with every user interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and build core data platforms for low-latency processing, including real-time eventing infrastructure, streaming and batch ETL pipelines, and Iceberg-based data lakehouses.
Own interactive OLAP querying, orchestration, and experimentation systems to ensure trustworthy and fast data usage.
Develop long-term agent memory systems, reusable Customer Data Platform primitives, and optimization loops for enhanced personalization.
Turn millions of user conversations into measurable business outcomes and intelligent experiences.

Requirements

Bring 4 to 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and shipping production systems or products.
Hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possess equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrate background in either Platform Engineering (large-scale data systems, Spark, Flink, Trino/Presto, Iceberg, Hudi, Go, Scala, or Python) or Product Engineering (shipped data products, TypeScript, React, service layers like Go, and ML-powered product features).
Exhibit a strong passion for the frontier of AI products, high agency, and a bias toward action in a high-autonomy setting.

Nice to Have

Deep experience using event streaming platforms like Kafka or Kinesis for real-time data processing.
Familiarity with modern data visualization libraries such as ECharts or D3.js for complex data charting components.
Production experience working with recommender systems or optimization loops like multi-armed bandits and ranking.
A proven track record of leading complex technical projects or mentoring other engineers.
