Role Overview

The Collections Experience group manages the product experience for the Notion database block and its surrounding features, including views, forms, and permissions. As a software engineer on this team, the selected individual will work across the full stack using TypeScript to build flexible, reliable, and intuitive primitives. The team consists of engineers, designers, and product managers collaborating across San Francisco and New York City to help users model their work precisely.

Key Responsibilities

Design and release new database properties and views to expand modeling capabilities within Notion.
Create robust permission models capable of supporting enterprise-scale customers.
Partner alongside the Agent team to expand Notion Agent functionalities involving databases, tool creation, and evaluation-driven iteration.
Collaborate closely with design and product teams to tackle ambiguous challenges and apply sound technical scope judgment.
Elevate standards for technical design, automated testing, and code reviews across the engineering group.

Requirements

Bring ten or more years of production software engineering experience with a demonstrated history of owning end-to-end features.
Demonstrate strong fluency with TypeScript across both frontend and backend systems.
Exhibit solid product instincts to interpret vague problems, formulate sound technical strategies, and manage feature scope.
Possess practical background working on systems where architectural data model decisions create long-term impacts, such as collaborative editing, permissions, or databases.
Maintain curiosity and a willingness to utilize AI tools to enhance daily work quality and output.

Nice to Have

Prior background developing spreadsheet, database, or workflow applications.
Experience working with large-scale authorization or permission systems.
Familiarity with LLM-driven product experiences, AI tooling, or evaluations.
