Software Engineer, C++
About this role
Engineers who thrive on applying mathematics, software engineering, and signal processing to solve complex real-world problems will find a strong fit in this position. The Air & Missile Defense Radar team at Anduril Industries develops tracking algorithms and software systems that detect, track, and characterize airborne threats in real-time.
Working within small, focused teams, this software engineer designs and implements sophisticated tracking solutions for defense systems powered by Lattice OS. Responsibilities include building high-performance distributed systems that process massive amounts of radar sensor data in milliseconds and creating modeling environments to validate tracking performance.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Hold at least two years of relevant experience alongside a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or possess equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in both C++ and Python.
- Bring a solid foundation in mathematics covering linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
- Experience with high-performance computing
- Active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance
Benefits
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
- Top-tier benefits for full-time employees ensuring support in health and recovery
