About this role

Defending critical assets from complex airborne threats requires real-time tracking algorithms capable of processing massive sensor data streams in milliseconds. The Air & Missile Defense Radar team solves this challenge by developing production-grade software that detects, tracks, and characterizes targets for government and industry customers.

Software engineers on this team design advanced multi-target tracking systems, build simulation environments for validation, and integrate solutions directly into end-to-end defense architectures. Candidates with a strong foundation in mathematics, proficiency in C++ and Python, and an interest in applying signal processing to real-world problems will thrive in this environment.

What you will do

  • Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
  • Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
  • Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance and quantify system capabilities.
  • Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
  • Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where speed and millisecond response times matter.
  • Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
  • Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.

What you need

  • Possess at least 5 years of relevant experience alongside a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrate strong programming skills in both C++ and Python.
  • Maintain a solid foundation in mathematics covering linear algebra, probability, statistics, and differential equations.
  • Understand core software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
  • Hold the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms such as Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
  • Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
  • Familiarity with radar systems, sensor fusion, or high-performance computing like multithreading and GPU acceleration
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
  • Proficiency with database technologies, web development frameworks, and modeling or simulation tools like MATLAB or Simulink

Benefits

  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees ensuring support in health and recovery
  • Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
