Software Engineer, Air & Missile Defense
About this role
Engineers who thrive on applying mathematics, software engineering, and signal processing to solve complex real-world challenges will find a natural home on this team. Anduril Industries operates in Broomfield and Fort Collins, Colorado, building advanced defense technology driven by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that converts thousands of data streams into real-time 3D command centers.
Within the Air & Missile Defense Radar unit, engineers design tracking algorithms and high-performance distributed systems to detect, track, and characterize airborne threats. Professionals in this position build modeling and simulation environments, optimize software for performance-critical environments, and participate in field tests and customer demonstrations to ensure operational effectiveness.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where processing speed is essential.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Possess at least 2 years of relevant experience alongside a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Bring a solid foundation in mathematics covering linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Maintain the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems, sensor fusion, or high-performance computing
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or custom frameworks
Benefits
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
- Top-tier benefits package covering health, recovery, and future needs
