Daily work involves designing, delivering, and iterating on AI agents that handle millions of shopper interactions across multiple channels. Engineers on this team take full ownership of the agent development lifecycle, from initial pilots through deployment during high-traffic events like Black Friday surges. Team members also abstract complex commerce systems, build discovery-to-checkout flows, and collaborate closely with product and research to shape the core platform.
What you will do
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that operate reliably across commerce and enterprise environments.
- Drive the agent development lifecycle by managing systems from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration.
- Partner with large enterprises and startups to understand business challenges and deploy AI solutions at scale.
- Collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to help guide the evolution of Sierra's core platform.
- Abstract complex commerce and order management systems into scalable packages for global retailers.
- Build personalized shopping flows that manage the full discovery-to-checkout lifecycle for consumers.
What you need
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving capabilities within fast-changing and ambiguous environments.
- A builder and tinkerer mindset with high agency for overcoming obstacles and shipping products.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
- Excellent communication skills that are clear, direct, and effective for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
- Background as a founder or founding engineer
- Familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
- Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go
- Previous experience interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders
