Sierra is hiring a full-time Software Engineer, Agent in San Francisco to design and deliver high-performance AI agents for major global brands. This role is ideal for an inventive builder who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to shape the future of customer-facing artificial intelligence platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Design and ship reliable, production-grade AI agents that operate at scale across industries like commerce, healthcare, and finance.
Manage the complete Agent Development Life Cycle, taking total ownership from initial pilot through deployment and ongoing iteration.
Collaborate directly with enterprise leaders and startups to understand complex business challenges and deploy tailored AI solutions.
Proactively surface unmet customer needs, prototype new platform features, and work alongside research and product teams to guide platform evolution.

Requirements

Proven background in building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
Exceptional technical problem-solving capabilities tailored for fast-changing and ambiguous situations.
A high-agency, builder's mindset focused on creative problem-solving and rapid shipping.
Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers to identify requirements and resolve real-world problems.
Clear, direct, and persuasive communication skills suited for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

Practical background in building or deploying AI and LLM systems in production environments.
Experience as a founder or founding engineer balancing speed, craft, and ownership.
Familiarity with modern AI tooling, evaluation frameworks, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
Proficiency in technologies such as React, TypeScript, or Go.
Prior professional history interfacing directly with customers or leading technical projects involving external stakeholders.
