Role Overview

Sierra is hiring a full-time Software Engineer, Agent in Toronto to design and deliver production-grade AI agents for leading global brands. This role suits a driven developer with a builder mindset who wants to create scalable, mission-critical systems that transform how enterprises serve customers.

Key Responsibilities

Design and ship reliable, high-performant, and intuitive AI agents that operate in real-world production environments across commerce, healthcare, and finance.
Drive the entire Agent Development Life Cycle, maintaining full ownership and autonomy from initial pilots through deployment and iterative updates.
Collaborate directly with enterprise leaders and startups to understand complex business challenges and deploy AI solutions at scale.
Shape the evolution of the core platform by surfacing unmet customer needs, prototyping novel tools, and working closely with research and product teams.
Experiment with advanced voice models, generalizable agent frameworks, and specialized architectures to handle intricate customer interactions.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems in professional environments.
Strong technical problem-solving capabilities suited for fast-changing and ambiguous situations.
A high-agency, builder and tinkerer mindset focused on finding creative ways to overcome obstacles and ship code.
Comfort engaging directly with customers to identify requirements and solve real-world operational challenges.
Clear, direct, and persuasive communication skills capable of bridging technical and non-technical discussions.

Nice to Have

Practical experience building or deploying artificial intelligence and large language model systems in production environments.
Background as a founder or founding engineer who understands how to balance speed, craft, and ownership.
Familiarity with modern AI agent tools, including evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
Prior technical experience working with React, TypeScript, or Go.
Previous roles involving direct customer interaction or leadership of technical projects with external stakeholders.
