Role Overview

As a Senior Technical Writer, the individual will take full ownership of the developer experience when learning to build with Hume AI. Working directly alongside engineers, researchers, and product teams, this role ensures APIs are easy to understand, code examples are reliable, and the integration journey is smooth from start to finish. This hands-on position covers information architecture, infrastructure, code creation, and technical writing.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain the complete developer documentation site, overseeing navigation, structure, and content arrangement.
Write thorough API and SDK references, introductory quickstarts, integration guides, and conceptual platform explanations.
Develop and test functional code samples to assist developers in achieving a working integration quickly.
Partner with engineering groups to document fresh APIs and maintain synchronization with product updates.
Enhance workflows and tooling used for generating, reviewing, testing, and publishing documentation.
Detect knowledge gaps or confusing instructions through user feedback and hands-on testing.
Define reusable documentation and writing standards to encourage broader team contributions.
Maintain long-term quality and sustainability of the documentation library as the platform scales.

Requirements

Proven background in constructing or taking ownership of an active developer documentation website.
Advanced technical writing capabilities with a talent for explaining complex concepts simply and precisely.
Adequate programming knowledge to execute integrations, draft functional examples, and verify documented processes.
Direct exposure to working with SDKs or APIs while understanding target developer needs.
Excellent decision-making skills regarding information architecture, content pacing, and navigation.
Familiarity with version control workflows and collaborative review processes with engineering peers.
High sense of responsibility and autonomy across implementation details, tools, and written content.

Nice to Have

Background using platforms like Mintlify, Docusaurus, Nextra, ReadMe, Sphinx, or MkDocs.
Familiarity generating reference guides using OpenAPI, protobuf, or alternative structured schemas.
Exposure to docs-as-code processes, continuous integration, or automated code sample validation.
Previous history documenting machine learning, audio, voice, or speech APIs.
Expertise in enhancing documentation search capabilities, discoverability, or utilization by AI agents and tools.
