Senior Staff ll, Machine Learning Engineer - Search Relevance
About this role
Matching billions of e-commerce products to customer intent requires building advanced search relevance and discovery infrastructure that can sustain rapid business growth. Coupang needs a senior engineering leader to design and optimize end-to-end machine learning systems spanning real-time serving, data pipelines, and core algorithms.
Working alongside senior search leadership, this person will identify key technical problems, align direction with stakeholders, and explore innovations in deep learning and large language modeling. Success in the role calls for deep technical expertise, strong execution, and the ability to translate broad business needs into robust production systems.
What you will do
- Design and build end-to-end search and discovery systems to support ongoing business growth.
- Drive key technical developments and clear blockers with a strong focus on execution.
- Ensure solid machine learning design and maintain high standards of operational excellence.
- Use data and metrics to identify major opportunities for system optimization and relevance improvement.
- Collaborate closely with partner teams to align technical directions and deliver results.
- Recruit and develop high-performing engineering talent.
What you need
- Bring 10 or more years of industry experience working at technology companies.
- Demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of information retrieval, deep learning, large language modeling, data processing, and real-time serving.
- Show a solid track record of delivering large, complex systems with significant business impact.
- Possess strong system design and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exhibit excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
