Senior Software Engineer, Robotics Tracking and Fusion
About this role
Engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments focused on target tracking and state estimation will find a strong fit with this team at Anduril Industries. Working out of Washington, District of Columbia, the group builds advanced software for Lattice OS to process numerous data streams into a unified 3D command center for defense applications.
This engineer will design and deploy algorithms for multi-sensor data fusion, probabilistic reasoning, and tactical simulations. The role exists to bridge the gap between theoretical modeling and deployed real-time systems that interpret complex radar, lidar, and EO/IR feeds. Ideal candidates possess a rigorous math and algorithm background, a talent for agile prototyping, and the drive to impact operational military technology directly.
What you will do
- Shape the technical path of a focused team by applying deep knowledge in target tracking and state estimation.
- Build and test algorithms for sensor fusion, filtering, and estimation using an iterative development approach.
- Create high-performance software for real-time tactical systems, modeling tools, and operator decision support.
- Construct probabilistic models and filters that extract clean insights from noisy or incomplete sensor inputs.
- Evaluate system capabilities through advanced simulations and statistical analysis.
- Tailor tracking technology to meet the specific requirements of mission-critical operational use cases.
- Incorporate tracking features across the full software lifecycle from initial requirements to final optimization.
- Communicate technical progress clearly to team members and operational end-users.
What you need
- Demonstrated coding ability in C, C++, Python, and Matlab for algorithm development and statistical modeling.
- Practical familiarity with target tracking methods such as Kalman filters, particle filters, and multi-target tracking.
- Experience implementing state estimation, Bayesian filtering, and recursive estimation techniques.
- Strong grasp of applied mathematics including linear algebra, stochastic processes, and optimization.
- Understanding of signal processing methods for radar, lidar, and electro-optical infrared sensors.
- Familiarity with big data architectures, NoSQL databases, and machine learning applications in anomaly detection.
- Capacity to engineer resilient systems across complete software lifecycles.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Benefits
- Comprehensive, competitive benefits package covering health and recovery
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
