About this role

Complex military defense systems often struggle to make sense of noisy, incomplete, or ambiguous incoming sensor streams in real time. To solve this problem, Anduril Industries builds advanced target tracking, state estimation, and sensor fusion capabilities powered by Lattice OS. The incoming engineer will design robust filters, build high-performance software for real-time systems, and prototype algorithms that turn thousands of data streams into actionable situational awareness. Operating within a small, innovative team based in Waltham, Massachusetts, the successful candidate will shape the technical direction of tracking technology from initial prototyping through production deployment and customer integration. This role suits a pragmatic software engineer with deep expertise in state estimation who wants to see their algorithms deployed in mission-critical real-world applications.

What you will do

  • Shape the technical direction of a small engineering group by applying subject-matter expertise in target tracking and state estimation.
  • Build and deploy state-of-the-art algorithms for tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, and estimation in an iterative development environment.
  • Create high-performance software for real-time operational systems, simulation environments, and decision support tools.
  • Design probabilistic reasoning systems and robust filters that extract actionable insights from ambiguous or noisy sensor feeds.
  • Evaluate system performance using advanced modeling tools, high-fidelity simulations, and statistical techniques.
  • Tailor software algorithms to meet specific mission-critical use cases and support end-users.
  • Incorporate tracking technologies across the complete software development lifecycle, handling everything from initial requirements to optimization.

What you need

  • Demonstrated programming proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Matlab for algorithm design, software development, and statistical modeling.
  • Thorough knowledge of target tracking methodologies including Kalman filters, particle filters, and multi-target tracking algorithms such as MHT, JPDA, or PHD filters.
  • Practical background in state estimation encompassing recursive estimation techniques, Bayesian filtering, and sensor fusion.
  • Solid grounding in applied mathematics including linear algebra, optimization, probability theory, and stochastic processes.
  • Familiarity with signal processing methods used to interpret diverse sensor streams like lidar, radar, and EO/IR.
  • Understanding of big data pipelines, NoSQL databases, and efficient handling of large-scale sensor data.
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques like classification, clustering, and anomaly detection to target tracking and recognition.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Benefits

  • Competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package covering health and recovery available at little to no cost to employees
