About this role

The Robotics Data Foundation team builds Anduril's vehicle telemetry backbone, spanning from onboard systems to the cloud. This engineering group creates the architecture that handles onboard data recording, cloud ingestion, and data normalization across flight controllers, vehicle management systems, mission systems, and sensor payloads.

Engineers on this team design and construct the cloud systems that host ingestion pipelines, storage networks, and developer tooling. The platform carries vehicle telemetry from onboard platforms into the cloud, making information discoverable, searchable, and analyzable across the entire fleet to support testing, simulation, and machine learning workflows.

Candidates who thrive in this environment possess strong backend engineering skills, experience with high-throughput streaming pipelines, and a readiness to handle complex defense robotics data assets while collaborating closely with internal business line engineering teams.

What you will do

  • Design and build Anduril-wide cloud systems that host ingestion pipelines, storage systems, and tooling to carry vehicle telemetry from onboard systems to the cloud.
  • Normalize data across flight controllers, vehicle management systems, mission systems, and sensor payloads to expose information to downstream analysis tools.
  • Build infrastructure that supports large-scale batch ingestion of recorded telemetry as well as low-latency streaming.
  • Develop high-availability and stable software capable of ingesting high volumes of telemetry across the company.
  • Design extensible telemetry and data architectures that enable easy integration of bespoke data sources into a standardized ingestion framework.
  • Deliver live telemetry streams and recorded data to cloud destinations so engineers, operators, and test teams can monitor systems in real time.
  • Build cloud-native systems that remain edge-compatible to facilitate telemetry capture in offline or air-gapped settings.
  • Partner closely with business line engineering teams to understand specific data requirements and iteratively deliver tailored solutions.

What you need

  • Demonstrated experience with modern lakehouse architectures such as Iceberg and Delta Lake, ETL systems like Flyte, Dagster, Airflow, and Argo Workflows, and distributed data processing engines including Spark and Trino.
  • Experience developing and operating high-throughput streaming data pipelines leveraging technologies such as Spark Streaming, Flink, and Kafka.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python, Java, Rust, and/or Go, with the team predominantly using Python and Rust for core backend services and pipelines.
  • Experience building and operating cloud systems, including common containerization and deployability tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and GitOps systems such as FluxCD and ArgoCD.
  • U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.

Nice to have

  • Eligibility to obtain or maintain a US Top Secret clearance

Benefits

  • Competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package covering health, recovery, and future needs
