About this role

Designing and building features for the Aging in Place member segment involves moving fluidly between backend services and native mobile surfaces while treating AI as a first-class collaborator across ideation, coding, testing, and iteration. This role sits on the Verticals team at Life360, focusing initially on helping aging parents stay safely independent while giving families peace of mind, with potential to flex into Things or Pets as priorities shift. The team operates as a product-minded, AI-native engineering group that has redesigned workflows around AI to ship faster and go deeper at scale.

The position exists to help define the pattern for new member segments, establish AI-native engineering playbooks for the broader organization, and take full ownership of features from the first line of code through production and on-call. Ideal candidates possess a strong sense of ownership, full-stack versatility, and a genuine enthusiasm for writing the playbook on AI-native software development rather than waiting for one to exist.

What you will do

  • Ship end-to-end features across backend services and mobile client surfaces, moving fluidly between layers as product demands require.
  • Work with AI as a primary collaborator by orchestrating agents to create specs, generate results, and perform code reviews.
  • Help define, codify, and publish AI-native engineering practices and playbooks that the broader organization can adopt.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to transform complex user problems into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Take full ownership of features from the first line of code through production, on-call rotations, and member impact.
  • Mentor team members, contribute to technical standards, and help evolve team processes and AI-native workflows.
  • Adapt patterns and services built for Aging in Place to future verticals such as Things and Pets as team scope expands.

What you need

  • Bring five or more years of experience building and operating high-quality, consumer-scale services.
  • Possess at least one year of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with large language models.
  • Demonstrate full-stack proficiency spanning backend services and mobile client development on iOS and Android.
  • Show deep familiarity with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context window management, and MCP or function calling.
  • Maintain a track record of using AI tooling to multiply personal output beyond simple autocomplete as a genuine development partner.
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or possess equivalent professional experience.

Benefits

  • Medical benefits
  • Dental benefits
  • Vision benefits
  • Financial benefits
  • Equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
