Senior Software Engineer, C++
About this role
Processing massive streams of radar sensor data in milliseconds to detect and track airborne threats requires sophisticated software engineering and advanced mathematical modeling. Anduril Industries seeks a Senior Software Engineer, C++ for the Air & Missile Defense Radar team to design and build real-time tracking algorithms, track fusion techniques, and distributed systems that protect critical assets. Operating in small, focused pods, the engineering group deploys production-grade solutions directly to government and industry customers for mission-critical operations.
Team members build high-performance software that processes data from radar sensors while managing modeling and simulation environments to validate system capabilities. Successful candidates bring a strong foundation in mathematics, signal processing, and systems programming to solve complex tracking challenges. Someone who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment where technical trade-offs are communicated clearly to cross-functional stakeholders and program leadership will do well here.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Bring 8 years of relevant experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Possess a solid foundation in mathematics covering linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Hold the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms such as Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems, sensor fusion, or high-performance computing
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
- Experience working in agile development environments with an active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance
Benefits
- Competitive base salary ranging from $190,000 to $252,000 USD
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
- Top-tier benefits for full-time employees supporting health, recovery, and overall well-being
