Senior Software Engineer, Battlespace Awareness
About this role
Engineers who enjoy applying advanced mathematics and signal processing to solve complex real-world challenges will thrive in this environment. Anduril Industries operates the Lattice operating system, turning thousands of data streams into a real-time three-dimensional command and control center for military capabilities. The Air and Missile Defense Radar team specifically develops tracking algorithms and software systems to detect, track, and characterize airborne threats in real-time.
The incoming senior engineer designs and implements advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats while developing high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar data. Team members work in small, focused units to build production-grade systems that government and industry customers depend on for mission-critical operations. The role exists to scale defense capabilities through novel algorithms and distributed software, requiring strong mathematical foundations and solid programming expertise in performance-critical environments.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on dozens to hundreds of simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Possess at least 8 years of relevant experience combined with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Maintain a solid foundation in mathematics including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Demonstrate the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
- Experience with high-performance computing including multithreading, GPU acceleration, and distributed systems
- Active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance
Benefits
- Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees supporting health, recovery, and what comes next
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
