Role Overview

Socure is seeking a remote Senior Software Engineer for the Backend Document Verification (DocV) team to develop the server-side components that power real-time identity verification. This full-time position offers a yearly salary between $180,000 and $200,000 and is ideal for an experienced developer who thrives on complex problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain robust backend microservices and APIs for identity document processing and verification workflows.

Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Infrastructure teams to integrate new features and machine learning models.

Drive improvements in code quality, automated testing, security practices, and continuous integration pipelines.

Take ownership of backend architecture decisions, advocating for secure data handling and scalable microservice design.

Monitor production data and system metrics to optimize service performance, reduce latency, and ensure high availability.

Integrate computer vision and machine learning outputs, such as OCR and face matching scores, directly into backend decision-making logic.

Partner with mobile and frontend engineering teams to establish clean API contracts and support seamless user experiences.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional experience building and launching distributed systems and modern backend services at scale.

Advanced proficiency in server-side programming languages such as Go, Java, or Scala.

Hands-on experience developing RESTful APIs and gRPC services for handling high-volume transactions.

Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, performance profiling, database query optimization, and handling sensitive personally identifiable information.

Strong cross-functional communication skills with a proven track record of collaborating alongside data scientists, product managers, and frontend developers.

Nice to Have

Prior experience working within identity verification, fraud prevention, or device risk domains.

Familiarity with deploying and integrating machine learning or computer vision techniques like optical character recognition and face matching.

Practical knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or Spark.
