Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer, AI Training position at g2i operates on a remote, contract basis requiring 10 to 20 hours per week. The role focuses on evaluating artificial intelligence coding interactions to determine if systems think and reason like skilled developers. Evaluators provide subjective yet rigorous judgments regarding model responses, explanations, and overall engineering taste.

Key Responsibilities

Review and evaluate end-to-end AI-generated coding interactions.
Determine if generated outputs are useful, correct, and aligned with strong software engineering principles.
Assess the quality of agent explanations and reasoning beyond syntax.
Differentiate various levels of response quality to establish performance benchmarks.
Write clear, opinionated feedback detailing what works, what fails, and what feels misleading.
Help shape standards for effective interaction with tools like Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code.

Requirements

Senior, Staff, or Principal-level engineering background or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
Practical, hands-on experience using Cursor, OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code.
Familiarity with modern workflows involving artificial intelligence assistance.
Ability to assess code effectively without running it line by line.
Professional written and spoken English proficiency at B2 level or higher for documentation and video explanations.
Capability to deliver direct and opinionated feedback.

Nice to Have

Background in prompt design or evaluation workflows.
Experience in mentoring senior engineers or establishing team engineering standards.
