About this role

Glia is seeking a Senior Security Engineer (Team Lead) to join its remote engineering team in Estonia. This position suits an experienced security professional ready to transition into a player-coach role, balancing hands-on technical execution with team leadership.

Role Overview

The DevSec team at Glia builds developer-facing security guardrails and paved paths so product teams can operate quickly and safely. This role encompasses the entire security posture, covering application, infrastructure, supply chain, endpoints, operations, and compliance. The selected professional will begin as a hands-on individual contributor to understand Glia's platform and security specifics during a three-month ramp-up period. Afterwards, the position shifts to approximately sixty percent leadership and forty percent hands-on engineering, leading the DevSec team's delivery, growth, and roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Own security programs from roadmap shaping and stakeholder alignment to implementation and adoption, prioritizing by risk.
Lead people management duties including one-on-ones, performance reviews, and mentorship for the team.
Conduct threat modeling, secure SDLC, design and code reviews, and supply chain security.
Manage AWS security posture, runtime security, and identity and access management in close collaboration with the infrastructure team.
Develop and maintain security automation and AI tooling, including securing AI-assisted development practices and large language model tooling.
Oversee developer endpoint security, software governance, and secrets hygiene.
Run framework-based assessments, lead blameless post-mortems for security incidents, and align with senior management.

Requirements

Credible hands-on experience in at least two security domains, such as application security and cloud infrastructure, with literacy across the entire posture.
Proven background in building or scaling a security program end-to-end, ideally within a low-structure environment.
Strong coding and automation capabilities, with Python preferred, alongside deep cloud security knowledge in AWS.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development and securing associated LLM tooling and AI governance.
Demonstrated leadership readiness or formal lead experience, with a commitment to acting as a player-coach.
Ability to act as an educator and collaborator with empathy toward developers.
Location in Europe.

Nice to Have

Experience with framework-based posture assessments like CIS Controls or NIST CSF to build prioritized roadmaps.
Exposure to penetration testing, audits, and compliance standards including SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and ISO 42001.
Technical familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, endpoint management, and identity providers.

Skills and Tools

Programming Languages: Python, Golang, Elixir, Ruby
Cloud and Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes
CI/CD and Security Tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Snyk, Sysdig, Falco
Endpoint and Identity: Okta, Jamf
