About this role

Role Overview

The Senior Security Engineer (Team Lead) at Glia is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader to shape developer-facing and platform security across the organization while working remotely from Poland or anywhere in Europe. This role suits an experienced security professional who wants to start as a hands-on individual contributor before transitioning into a player-coach team lead position.

Key Responsibilities

During the initial three-month ramp-up period, the selected candidate will focus on shipping hands-on security work, learning Glia's platform specifics, and co-owning the company security roadmap alongside the Security Leader. Once the ramp-up concludes, the position shifts to approximately sixty percent leadership and forty percent hands-on engineering work. Responsibilities include owning security programs end-to-end, managing performance, running one-on-ones, mentoring team members, and taking on high-leverage technical tasks.

The daily scope spans application and product security, infrastructure and cloud security, security automation and artificial intelligence, endpoint and corporate security, whole-posture assessment, and acting as a compliance interface. Additional duties involve mentoring engineers, leading blameless post-mortems for security incidents, and presenting findings to senior management.

Requirements

Candidates must have credible hands-on experience in at least two security domains, such as application security combined with cloud or infrastructure security, alongside literacy across other domains. Applicants need a proven track record of building or scaling a security program end-to-end in a low-structure environment. Strong coding and automation abilities in Python, deep cloud security knowledge in AWS, and familiarity with AI-assisted development and LLM tooling are essential. Leadership readiness with evidence of mentoring or formal leadership experience is required, along with location in Europe.

Framework-based posture assessment experience such as CIS Controls or NIST CSF
